Aleksei: There we go.
DM: And that's four.
Taranis: working through the loot adjustments
DM: While we wait for the others...
Taranis: so however much food we had on our sheets is how much we had when we reached Oleg's?
DM: Quite
Ilya: .
Taranis: ok.
DM: 2 days worth per character consumed since then
Taranis: 20 Arrows -> Ilya, 60 Arrows -> Elias
DM: I turn your attention to...
DM: http://hugin.xthemage.net/hugin/?instance=kingmaker
Taranis: other than that, I have 3 longbows, 3 shortswords, a dagger, and 4 suits of leather armor to sell if Oleg will take them
DM: The party begins on the east side of the river at the northern end of the map.
DM: anywhere northeast of 20,0
<<< Sven has joined >>> <<< 02:03:37 PM >>>
DM: aha. and that's 5.
<<< Sven is now known as Dolgan >>>
Ilya: oh well sven is here
Ilya: we win
DM: Elias' scouting reports a total of 10 bandits, including the rough looking female.
Taranis: So... anyone want any of those items before the sale happens? And will Oleg take them all?
DM: In the last few minutes, there seems to be a bit of a commotion in the camp.
Aleksei: Wait Sven is here?
Ilya: lol
Aleksei: Clearly he summons a big earth elemental
Ilya: clearly.
Taranis: clearly Sven will begin by eating paladins.
Aleksei: Drops it on the bandits' heads
Dolgan: endo story.
Aleksei: And walks away
Ilya: and then it eats all the bandits
Aleksei: We are done here
Ilya: as I said
Ilya: sven is here
Ilya: we win
DM: four of the bandits run to and hide behind the logs at 17,14
Ilya: oh really
Ilya: commotion
Ilya: any idea what's causing it?
DM: well, one bandit had just come back from the South.
Ilya: so they are clearly on their guard for Something
Ilya: that is Not Us
Ilya: i say we wait and see what that is, then maybe jump them
Aleksei: Let's adot the wait and... yes
Aleksei: Exactly.
Ilya: try to get into a better position to do that
Aleksei: *adopt.
DM: Also… two of the bandits around the campfire are keeping an eye on a rough looking girl tied up at 31, 9
DM: who will describe herself as soon as the other Chris shows up.
Aleksei: Tied up, you say
DM: speaking of which...
Aleksei: Clearly we should untie her and we'll then have an ally
Aleksei: Oooor she should be something terrible and will eat us as soon as we untie her
Ilya: seems possible
Ilya: both of those things.
Ilya: so where are we watching from?
Aleksei: Scroll up
Aleksei: It sayts
Aleksei: "party is here" or something
Ilya: i see
<<< Aleksei has joined >>> <<< 02:08:22 PM >>>
Ilya: so
Ilya: it seems like we can sneak behind this tree-line
Ilya: at y=32
Ilya: and maybe take out 7, 8, 9
<<< Luxa has joined >>> <<< 02:09:04 PM >>>
Ilya: in a surprise round
DM: excellent.
Ilya: if we're really lucky
DM: excellent. that's everyone.
DM: Once again
DM: http://hugin.xthemage.net/hugin/?instance=kingmaker
Ilya: so on the river
Ilya: what's the brown line
Aleksei: Road
Aleksei: I bet
Aleksei: Or trail
Ilya: ah
Aleksei: // I forgot what mini I used last time.
Ilya: so there are crossings
Aleksei: // Anyone recall?
DM: It is indeed a trail. Looks like it's been fairly traveled.
Ilya: um
DM: The river broadens a bit here and is fordable.
Ilya: i think it was the oracle
DM: at the two points where the brown lines cross through the river.
Aleksei: I don't know which one the oracle is :/
Ilya: the blue caped guy
Ilya: blue collared
Elias: well....there appear to be no miniatures on hugin
Elias: at least none that I can see
DM: ...
Ilya: didn't we have that issue before
Ilya: with some browser
Aleksei: Are you using
Aleksei: Chrome
Elias: was it firefox?
DM: Urgh. I'll look at it later this week.
Aleksei: It was
Ilya: yeah
Ilya: I think so
Taranis: I put an Elias in
Aleksei: Totally Firefox
Elias: of course it was
Ilya: go grba chrome real quick
Ilya: it's not large
Elias: ....I hate chrome :P
Ilya: you only n eed the one tab :P
Aleksei: Hate Chrome?!
Elias: don't start :P
Ilya: yes, don't start
Aleksei: Ok well it works in Safari too I'm pretty sure :p
Luxa: Bah. Name not right.
Elias: this might take a bit
Elias: netbooks aren't the fastest things
Aleksei: What if someone else puts a mini for you
<<< Dolgan is now known as Bolgan >>>
Aleksei: Can you then see it on the uh
DM: Alright. Could someone drag a mini in for Elias in the meantime?
Aleksei: Game board
Bolgan: >_>
Bolgan: <_<
Taranis: already done
DM: Excellent.
Ilya: if that works then that's fine
Ilya: hold on though
Aleksei: So
Ilya: are we taking our horses
Ilya: or tying them up
Ilya: horses seem like a liability
Aleksei: Tying them up
Aleksei: I assume
Aleksei: I mean
Ilya: so I think we should put them elsewhere.
Aleksei: I agree with the sneaking plan
Aleksei: In principle.
Taranis: Obviously tying up the damned things
DM: A few moments later, you note the reason for the commotion.
Aleksei: I'm not actually any good at sneaking around.
Aleksei: Oho
DM: A single individual is walking up the road from the south.
DM: and I'll let him describe himself.
Ilya: i bet it's the crazy one
Ilya: oh
Ilya: nm
DM: (bolgan)
Ilya: we should take the opportunity to reposition ourselves
Bolgan: short, stocky dwarf in simple traveler's garb
Ilya: or at least start creeping southward
Aleksei: Agreed
*** Aleksei ties his horse to something
Ilya: before the bandits do anything
Bolgan: with perhaps the biggest nose on one of the uglier faces you've seen
Ilya: to react to this guy
Ilya: so oliver tell us how far we can move before nonsense is afoot
*** Aleksei starts moving south-southeast
Ilya: essentially we're creeping down the treeline at the 32 verticle
Ilya: vertical
Aleksei: yes
Aleksei: And once you answer that, Oliver
Aleksei: Could you describe for us what all the brown things on the map mean
Ilya: i assume the bandits in front are hiding behind fallen logs
Ilya: and in back there are like... somethings
Ilya: so yeah
Ilya: that.
Ilya: what's going on in back here with 7-8-9
Aleksei: Also the female bandit
Aleksei: With the axes
Aleksei: I guess she's here too
DM: Ok...
Aleksei: And is alleged to be terrifying
DM: So… Bolgan is somewhere along the road south of the river.
Aleksei: We probably can't see him yet
Aleksei: Or can we
DM: Assuming he reaches 13, 15 before anything else happens, something will happen
Ilya: i see a new mini popped up
Ilya: In any case
Aleksei: oh shit it's Haley
Ilya: regardless of how quickly he travels northward
Ilya: we're travelling southward at Slow Enough To Stealth
Ilya: so... feel free to resolve that
DM: The party can make it to the horizontal 0 line without any checks.
Ilya: ok
DM: Further south than that will require stealth checks.
Ilya: we want to keep going
Ilya: checks can be made
Ilya: but we're going to move real slow
Aleksei: We enter the Sneaking Stance
Ilya: so
Ilya: /try -1;stealth
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM (stealth) 1d20 < 18 = 18 > + 0 - 1 = 17
Ilya: bam
Aleksei: Characterized by a half-crouch and partial transparency.
Ilya: right
DM: [Luxa?] roll up some perception.
DM: Same for Bolgan
Ilya: i assume everyone else has a chance to fail
Ilya: at stealth
Aleksei: -1, really?
Taranis: /try 0;stealth
*** DM rolls attempts for Taranis :
*** DM (stealth) 1d20 < 11 = 11 > + 0 = 11
Bolgan: /try 8
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 16 = 16 > + 8 = 24
Aleksei: What about your armor
Ilya: yeah?
DM: Yep, everyone roll up some stuffs.
Ilya: -2 acp
Ilya: from armor
Aleksei: Oh only, eh
Ilya: chain shirt
Ilya: -2 acp
Luxa: /try 4;percept
*** DM rolls attempts for Luxa :
*** DM (percept) 1d20 < 2 = 2 > + 4 = 6
Elias: /try 4
*** DM rolls attempts for Elias :
*** DM 1d20 < 6 = 6 > + 4 = 10
Aleksei: /try -7;stealth
*** DM rolls attempts for Aleksei :
*** DM (stealth) 1d20 < 14 = 14 > + 0 - 7 = 7
DM: Alright.
DM: Here's the deal.
Ilya: yikes
Ilya: damn noisy clerics
DM: Bolgan notes that there is an ambush waiting for him up ahead along the road.
DM: four bandits are crouched behind a pair of logs.
Bolgan: where am I?
DM: DM: So… Bolgan is somewhere along the road south of the river.
Ilya: so in the 17-22 horizontal range?
DM: 9,22 to 13,18
Ilya: yeah the brown area
DM: yep.
DM: Meanwhile...
DM: The bulk of you were traveling along the Northern tree line, yes?
Aleksei: See that stand of trees that goes north-south
Ilya: moving south down the eastern tree line I'd say
Aleksei: We're edging along the eastern part of that
Ilya: the 32 vertical line
Ilya: 32/33
Aleksei: Such that we can emerge in that break in the tree line
Ilya: right
Ilya: so there's brown chicken scratch there
Ilya: what is that
DM: Ah, note that there's a fairly thick range of trees east of 32. You can be there.
DM: But it's not drawn (yet)
Bolgan: my dude is placed
Ilya: so can we sneak amongst those trees
Ilya: there
Ilya: drawn
Aleksei: // There oughta be a stamp tool
Aleksei: // Kid Pix style
Ilya: heh
DM: Ok, well, you make it down to about row 4 when a snapping twig makes the female bandit's head snap around directly at you.
Ilya: oh no.
DM: she smirks and yells "INTRUDERS"
Ilya: ffff
Aleksei: That was probably me.
Ilya: oops
Aleksei: Sorry.
Aleksei: I guess we will have to fight them now
*** Ilya sighs
DM: So… initiative from everyone.
Ilya: I suppose that was plan B
Ilya: /try 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM 1d20 < 4 = 4 > + 2 = 6
Ilya: oh wait
Bolgan: /try 1
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 16 = 16 > + 1 = 17
Ilya: my init is 1
Ilya: so that's a 5
Ilya: my bad
Aleksei: /try 0
*** DM rolls attempts for Aleksei :
*** DM 1d20 < 1 = 1 > + 0 = 1
Taranis: /try 0
*** DM rolls attempts for Taranis :
*** DM 1d20 < 6 = 6 > + 0 = 6
Elias: /try 4
*** DM rolls attempts for Elias :
*** DM 1d20 < 16 = 16 > + 4 = 20
*** Ilya can't fucking reamember his own god damn stats
Aleksei: // clerics are noisy AND slow!
Ilya: //boooo
Bolgan: did I hear the commotion?
Ilya: well
DM: ep
Ilya: she yelled
Ilya: from like
DM: yep
Bolgan: ok
Ilya: 60ft away
Ilya: from you
Ilya: so yeah
<<< Female Bandit has joined >>> <<< 02:28:33 PM >>> <<< Bandits has joined >>> <<< 02:28:35 PM >>>
Aleksei: So
Aleksei: Can we get a description of wtf all this brown stuff is
Bandits: /try 5
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 1 = 1 > + 5 = 6
Ilya: aw really
Female Bandit: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Female Bandit :
*** DM 1d20 < 18 = 18 > + 3 = 21
Ilya: oh gosh
DM: Sure.
Ilya: i assume those are benches around the cookfire
Ilya: dunno what the other stuff is
DM: there are two tree stumps in column 28
DM: around the camp fire are a bunch of logs
Aleksei: I guess that makes more sense than wooden spiders
Ilya: ah
DM: there are a bunch of small branches, kindling and a hatchet at 32, 12
Ilya: aha
Ilya: so that's what that is
DM: and those things at 28,16 are logs
Aleksei: I have an idea
Ilya: set everything on fire?
Aleksei: yes.
Ilya: i like this idea.
Ilya: for some reason.
Aleksei: Fire is cool, so that makes sense.
Aleksei: I mean.
Aleksei: um.
Aleksei: You know.
Ilya: Yep.
Ilya: Fire is pretty cool
DM: How does one set one's name in gloarbline?
Ilya: options?
Ilya: just like hotline?
Ilya: back in the day
Aleksei: Same as good old HLC
DM: Mmm… ok, thanks.
*** DM Tabulates init.
Luxa: /try 4
*** DM rolls attempts for Luxa :
*** DM 1d20 < 11 = 11 > + 4 = 15
DM: Alrighty.
*** Female Bandit is first up.
*** Female Bandit looks directly at you and smirks.
Aleksei: // oh hey I recognize that illustration.
Ilya: :|
*** Female Bandit moves and lobs a dagger in your direction
Female Bandit: /try 5-6-2;aleksei
*** DM rolls attempts for Female Bandit :
*** DM (aleksei) 1d20 < 12 = 12 > + 5 - 6 - 2 = 9
Ilya: ... lol
*** Ilya wonders what all those - are for
Aleksei: Cover I bet
Ilya: ah
DM: 2 for cover, 6 for distance
Ilya: trees.
Ilya: sadly this is not charging territory
Bandits: alright. Elias is up.
*** DM said that.
Elias: I move there and fire at the female bandit
Elias: she has cover I assume?
DM: quite.
DM: pretty thick brush.
Elias: -2 for cover?
DM: yep
Ilya: is movement penalized?
Ilya: and how badly
DM: difficult terrain
Ilya: is that... half?
Aleksei: That's half speed?
DM: (1/2, yes)
Ilya: bah
Ilya: sucks
Elias: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Elias :
*** DM 1d20 < 12 = 12 > + 3 = 15
Ilya: wonders how much he trusts his ac
DM: that is, just barely a hit.
*** Ilya uses option
Elias: yay!
Aleksei: Ilya
Aleksei: Wait until I go
Aleksei: And it'll be cool
Ilya: i go after you.
Elias: /roll 1d8
*** DM rolls dice for Elias: 1d8 < 3 = 3 > = 3
DM: Oh, sorry, that should have had a +2 on it.
Aleksei: What? really?
DM: I assume an 11 is also a miss?
Ilya: don't i?
Ilya: oh no
Ilya: you got a 1
Ilya: I missed that
Aleksei: If you're going to go up to her
Ilya: i was, yes
Aleksei: Then delay until after me
Ilya: ok
Ilya: what you got for me
DM: The arrow nicks the female bandit.
Aleksei: Same as before
DM: Alright, jumping over to the other side of the map...
DM: Bolgan, off in the distance you hear a female voice shout "INTRUDERS"
Ilya: what the chaos touch?
Aleksei: yep
Ilya: ok but you can't get to her and touch her this turn
Aleksei: Why not?
Ilya: oh you have like
DM: The bandits who've been preparing to ambush you look around, apparently confused.
Ilya: fom
Aleksei: I sure do
Ilya: or some shit
Ilya: ok
Ilya: cool
DM: And you, are up.
Aleksei: you = Bolgan?
Bolgan: I guess I delay
Aleksei: k
DM: Ok.
Ilya: travel domain so op
DM: In that case…
Aleksei: Desna is the bestest goddess
DM: [Trip?] is up.
Aleksei: <3
Aleksei: Who
DM: The tied up girl.
Aleksei: Ah
Ilya: and you said her name was Trip?
DM: That is what I have been led to believe. Confirm?
Aleksei: So if we have engine problems she can fix them
Aleksei: amirite
Ilya: that was also the name of the girl in Enslaved
Ilya: the technomage
Aleksei: What's that
Ilya: video game
Aleksei: hm
Ilya: based on Journey to the West
Ilya: it involved some post apocalyptic shit.
Bolgan: aka dragon ball
Luxa: [Trip] Hi
Ilya: oh you can't change your name
Ilya: ?
Luxa: Gosh darn it if I don't know the reference is it still legit?
Ilya: sure
DM: So… Trip, who is currently "tied up" is up.
Elias: if it makes you feel any better my guy's name is an NPC in Mass Effect 2
Ilya: that's going to get confusing though
Luxa: um... I try to escape?
Aleksei: // You people and your video games
Aleksei: // Next character I roll up will be named Cube.
Ilya: //lol
Aleksei: // HE WILL BE A PSION.
Ilya: //whatever I named this character after another D&D character!
Ilya: //so there
Luxa: /try 8;escape?
*** DM rolls attempts for Luxa :
*** DM (escape?) 1d20 < 9 = 9 > + 8 = 17
DM: Ah, no… you've had plenty of time to take 20.
DM: Which, I believe gets you a 28 on the EA check?
Ilya: without them noticing?
DM: Aye.
Luxa: Can I climb through the trees w/o invoking Attack of Opp?
DM: Hmm.
DM: That'd be a climb/strength check to get up there. It might take a little while to get up.
Luxa: Fine, I'll sprint to 32,12
DM: k.. The bandits aren't threatening.
DM: only the female bandit.
Luxa: *run run run*
DM: k, that's a move action.
Luxa: If I have a minor left, I'd like to pick up that hatchet.
DM: You've still got a standard action
Ilya: minor?!?!
Ilya: this is Pathfinder!
Ilya: /boot
*** DM sigh
Ilya: lol
Luxa: um
Ilya: leonidas?
Luxa: ow?
Ilya: 300?
Ilya: no?
Ilya: oh well
DM: Picking up the hatchet is a move.
Aleksei: No, I support this
Aleksei: 4e is not welcome in our lands!
Ilya: lol
Ilya: down the bottomless pit
DM: So that's one round.
DM: Next up is… the bandits.
Aleksei: Wait what
Aleksei: What about like
Aleksei: Me
Aleksei: and Ilya
Aleksei: and Taranis?
Ilya: well
Ilya: the bandits rolled a 6.
Aleksei: Oh, a round for Trip
Bolgan: clearly you were surprised
Aleksei: Not a round of init
Ilya: he meant a turn
Aleksei: nm
DM: yes
Ilya: moving on
*** Bandits are up.
*** Bandits charge the now hatchet-wielding Trip.
Bandits: /try 2 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 8 = 8 > + 2 = 10
*** DM 1d20 < 10 = 10 > + 2 = 12
Bandits: err, +2 on both of those
Bandits: 12 and 14
*** Bandits eyeing Bolgan are confused as to what they should be doing.
*** Bolgan shrugs
*** Ilya thinks Bolgan shoudl beat them up
Ilya: give their lives purpose
*** Bandits 2 and 3 jump over the log and attack Bolgan.
*** Bolgan :/
Bandits: /try 2 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 4 = 4 > + 2 = 6
*** DM 1d20 < 12 = 12 > + 2 = 14
Bolgan: a whole lot of missing
*** Bandits #4 tries to figure out what to do.
Ilya: so bolgan is a ninja?
*** Bandits #5 rushes to help the others.
*** Bolgan undelays when appropriate
Ilya: this is an unacceptable duplication of minis
Bolgan: oh the bandits are all ninja
Bolgan: hmm
Ilya: monk, right?
*** Bandits #6 fires an arrow at Trip.
Bolgan: yup
Bandits: /try 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 16 = 16 > + 2 = 18
Bandits: /roll 1d8
*** DM rolls dice for Bandits: 1d8 < 2 = 2 > = 2
Luxa: [Trip] last arrow hits
Ilya: fixed
Bandits: aand… #7 also charges.
Bolgan: merci buckets
Bandits: /try 4
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 2 = 2 > + 4 = 6
*** Bandits #1 descends from his perch
DM: and that's it for the bandits.
Bolgan: time to punch things
DM: If Bolgan's undelaying, he'sup
Ilya: i think Bolgan wanted to andale
Bolgan: oh man I've never monked
Bolgan: I guess I flurry or some shit
Bolgan: /try 2 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 13 = 13 > + 2 = 15
*** DM 1d20 < 11 = 11 > + 2 = 13
Ilya: well they did put themselves in your full attack range.
Ilya: that was considerate of them
Taranis: I suggest you shin shoryuken.
Ilya: i don't think he has enough meter
Bolgan: I don't get that until my 5th level of bounty hunter or some shit
Ilya: we are mixing metaphors all up in this bitch
Bolgan: sho nuff
Ilya: bounty hunters definitely don't get shin shoryuken
Ilya: more like shoryu reppa
DM: So… what's he do?
Ilya: did you read the chat
DM: (on deck is Ilya)
Ilya: where he said what he did
DM: >.>
*** DM missed that somehow.
Ilya: and then rolled dice
Bolgan: lol.
DM: Them's some hits.
Ilya: :|
Bolgan: bandit 2 takes
Bolgan: /roll 1d6+2
*** DM rolls dice for Bolgan: 1d6 < 6 = 6 > + 2 = 8
*** Bandits #2 is still up, barely.
Aleksei: So basically Bolgan is punching dudes in the face?
Bolgan: /roll 1d6+2
*** DM rolls dice for Bolgan: 1d6 < 6 = 6 > + 2 = 8
Bolgan: how about now
Ilya: he is doing that yes
*** Bandits #2 is down
Ilya: possibly the groin
Ilya: what with him being a dwarf
Bolgan: that's'a mah turn
DM: Ok, Ilya's up
DM: (Next is Taranis)
Ilya: Ilya after conferring quietly wiht Aleksei, will delay
DM: Taranis is up (Aleksei next)
Ilya: actually
Ilya: I don't need to delay
Ilya: to give himr oom
Ilya: sorry
Ilya: I just move here
*** Ilya draws his sword
DM: Ok… that is, I believe 2 moves worth, yes?
Ilya: yeah
Ilya: and
Ilya: that gives aleksei room,. right?
Ilya: to go in front of her
Aleksei: I'm good
Ilya: yeah
Ilya: Also!
Ilya: smite
Ilya: evil
DM: 33,9 is free.
DM: Indeed. She is smitten by (with) you.
Aleksei: Ilya charges up with holy power
*** Ilya declares a wordless challenge
Aleksei: One might even say hopow
Ilya: ok that's it for me
DM: Taranis (Aleksei next)
Taranis: I believe I can land a Sleep to hit...
Ilya: 5, 9, 8
Taranis: 5, 8, 9
Ilya: yeah
Ilya: that's what I was thinking
DM: indeed.
Taranis: had to pan back to check the numbers
DM: that's got at least 3 HD on it?
DM: err
Taranis: 4
Taranis: move and...
*** Taranis Sleep
DM: it's just a cap on per-target, right?
DM: not total HD affected
Taranis: Will, DC 16
Taranis: total HD
DM: /try -1 -1 -1
*** DM rolls attempts for DM :
*** DM 1d20 < 4 = 4 > + 0 - 1 = 3
*** DM 1d20 < 14 = 14 > + 0 - 1 = 13
*** DM 1d20 < 14 = 14 > + 0 - 1 = 13
*** Bandits nod off
Aleksei: A sleep spell causes a magical slumber to come upon 4 HD of creatures. Creatures with the fewest HD are affected first. Among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the spell's point of origin are affected first. HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted.
DM: Ah, indeed
DM: duration?
Ilya: forever
DM: kk
Aleksei: min/lvl
Ilya: (min/lvl)
Ilya: standard action for their allies to wake them up
Taranis: aw crap...
Taranis: actually, I *start* casting Sleep
DM: so 10 rounds… quite nasty.
Ilya: oh no way
Ilya: it's 1 round
DM: Really?
Taranis: I keep forgetting the casting time is 1 Full Round.
Ilya: that's el terible
DM: alright, they're not asleep yet then.
Bolgan: unfortunizzle
Luxa: [Trip] Yay sleepy bandits.
DM: Aleksei (Female bandit next)
*** Aleksei moves up to the female bandit
DM: (Elias after that)
*** Aleksei channels The Power of Desna!
*** Aleksei touch attack
Aleksei: /try 1
*** DM rolls attempts for Aleksei :
*** DM 1d20 < 9 = 9 > + 1 = 10
Bolgan: the power of what
Luxa: er, soon to be sleeping bandits
Ilya: the power of missing
Aleksei: The power of DESNA
Bolgan: wtf is a desna
DM: the power of missing indeed.
*** Aleksei is still holding the charge
Aleksei: Desna is a goddess
*** Female Bandit deftly dodges out of the way.
Aleksei: of awesome stuff
Aleksei: travel and stars and butterflies and CHAOS
Bolgan: desna is a goddess with bad hand-eye coordination, I suppose
Ilya: yes
Ilya: that
Aleksei: :|
*** Female Bandit sneers mockingly at Aleksei.
*** Ilya glares angrily at "Female Bandit"
*** Female Bandit quickdraws a pair of axes.
Aleksei: Ooh hit me
*** Female Bandit swings one at Aleksei's outstretched arm.
Female Bandit: /try 8
*** DM rolls attempts for Female Bandit :
*** DM 1d20 < 9 = 9 > + 8 = 17
Aleksei: Absolutely not.
*** Female Bandit and the other at Ilya.
Female Bandit: /try 8
*** DM rolls attempts for Female Bandit :
*** DM 1d20 < 1 = 1 > + 8 = 9
Ilya: not even close
Female Bandit: ... Female Bandit: Such soft hands. I'll get them yet.
*** Female Bandit grins.
Ilya: D:
Bolgan: hott
*** Ilya resolves to rid the world of such evil immediately
DM: Elias!
DM: (and then Trip)
Elias: move there and shoot
Elias: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Elias :
*** DM 1d20 < 9 = 9 > + 3 = 12
Elias: I miss
Aleksei: // mm
Elias: since I'm guessing she still has cover from trees
DM: Aye.
Ilya: is that counting cover?
Aleksei: // this cherry pie turned out quite nice
Elias: yes
Ilya: ah
Elias: normally my attack is 5
Ilya: got it
Elias: I'm subtracting 2
DM: That's at her, right?
Elias: yes
Elias: female bandit
DM: Yeah, a miss.
Ilya: imo shoot bandit 7
Ilya: but next round
Ilya: I suppose
Ilya: I got this one
DM: Trip is next up (Bandits after)
Ilya: assuming I don't like
Ilya: roll terribles
Ilya: all day
Ilya: <_<
Luxa: Bandits are not asleep yet?
Aleksei: That never happens Ilya
DM: Nope.
Aleksei: So I wouldn't worry
Taranis: nope, not until my turn
DM: Does Aleksei's cursed charge count as a weapon?
DM: (i.e., is he threatening?)
Aleksei: yes
*** Aleksei totally threatens
Ilya: touch spells usually do
DM: Just checking.
Luxa: *Trip whistles and moves away from bandit trio*
DM: that'd be a 5ft, so no provocation. You've got a move and a standard left.
Ilya: i swear if you all made me burn my Smite for no reason... :|
Luxa: /try 4
*** DM rolls attempts for Luxa :
*** DM 1d20 < 14 = 14 > + 4 = 18
Ilya: (I know, so far no one has managed to hit her)
DM: (+2 for flanking)
Aleksei: Hey I am trying to make you not die.
DM: She is hit.
Ilya: meh?
Ilya: //what's aleksei's ac anyway
Luxa: Can I say it??
*** DM sigh.
Ilya: depends, what's it
Luxa: FLANK ATTACK, BITCH
Ilya: yes.
Ilya: definitely.
Luxa: /roll 2d6
*** DM rolls dice for Luxa: 2d6 < 2 3 = 5 > = 5
Aleksei: // 18
Ilya: //ok well Ilya's is 17 versus her
DM: That's some sneakiness right there.
DM: (She was hit for 3 by an arrow earlier)
Ilya: she was?
DM: (yes)
DM: Elias hit.
Luxa: Trip is done.
Ilya: truth
DM: Alright, so that's her getting hit.
*** Bandits are up (Bolgan next)
Luxa: *Trip looks surprised at herself *
Ilya: i swear if I roll another 2 like last week
*** Bandits #1 moves a bunch
*** Bandits #3 5fts a bit and attacks.
Bandits: /try 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 4 = 4 > + 2 = 6
*** Bandits facepalms
Ilya: then bolgan singlehandedly killed all the other bandits.
*** Bandits #4 moves a bunch.
*** Bandits move a bunch and attack Trip.
Bandits: /try 2 2 4
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 18 = 18 > + 2 = 20
*** DM 1d20 < 20 = 20 > + 2 = 22
*** DM 1d20 < 15 = 15 > + 4 = 19
Bandits: /try 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 20 = 20 > + 2 = 22
Bolgan: and trip dies
Aleksei: oh snap
Bandits: /roll 1d6+1
*** DM rolls dice for Bandits: 1d6 < 4 = 4 > + 1 = 5
Luxa: yeah, sounds about right.
Ilya: yeah this is some crits and confirms and more crits
Luxa: It was very nice nearly meeting you all.
Ilya: :|
Ilya: it's cool we have a cleric
*** Aleksei flex
Bandits: (what's trip at?)
Ilya: surely he can fix all of this critting
Bolgan: he's really good at his job
DM: like… 3 or so now?
Bolgan: amirite hater
Bandits: /roll 2d6+2
*** DM rolls dice for Bandits: 2d6 < 3 3 = 6 > + 2 = 8
Aleksei: Man it's not my fault that dudes dodge my shit
Ilya: that looks like a KO
Luxa: 13 damage total? at -4
Ilya: if the number quoted was correct
Ilya: yeeep
Aleksei: Hopefully this chick won't be dodging my heal spells when she's on the ground
Ilya: x_x
Ilya: lol
Aleksei: So my inability to hit the broad side of a barn will not be an impediment
Bolgan: don't suck.
*** Bandits fires an arrow at Ilya
Bandits: /try 2-2
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 19 = 19 > + 2 - 2 = 19
Taranis: I suggest you fix your inability to hit the broad side of a barn by going inside th barn.
Ilya: ow!
Aleksei: What
Aleksei: Was that some sort of innuendo
Ilya: so like
Ilya: cover
Bandits: (that's #6)
Luxa: x_x
Ilya: how about precise shot
Bandits: (cover counted)
Ilya: firing into melee
Aleksei: I mean, I usually get to know a girl first.
DM: point. That's a 15
Ilya: still a hit. :/
*** Ilya needs more AC
DM: /roll 1d8
*** DM rolls dice for DM: 1d8 < 8 = 8 > = 8
Ilya: ow.
*** Bandits #6 is a crack shot :D
*** Ilya is injured!
DM: That does it for them, I believe.
DM: Bolgan's up.
DM: (Ilya on deck)
Bolgan: uhh
Bolgan: stunning fist
Ilya: heckapunches
Bolgan: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 20 = 20 > + 3 = 23
Bolgan: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 17 = 17 > + 3 = 20
Bolgan: /roll 2d6+4
*** DM rolls dice for Bolgan: 2d6 < 5 3 = 8 > + 4 = 12
Bolgan: well now I feel silly.
Aleksei: Ninja dwarf over here
Bolgan: and then I move
Ilya: yeah you pretty much just get to kill all of them for free
Ilya: it seems
DM: I would roll a save for him… but he's a bit more than stunned by that.
DM: That's #3?
Aleksei: Rolling double digits consistently does that
Ilya: yeah.
DM: Ok
Bolgan: next
DM: Ilya's up (Taranis next)
*** Ilya yells real loud while swinging his sword in a large arc
Ilya: /try 6
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM 1d20 < 12 = 12 > + 6 = 18
*** Ilya fingers cross
DM: A solid hit.
Ilya: she's dead
Ilya: /roll 2d6+8
*** DM rolls dice for Ilya: 2d6 < 6 5 = 11 > + 8 = 19
DM: Is she?
Ilya: yes
Ilya: yes she is.
Bolgan: oooowwwwwwww
DM: It would appear that she is… just barely not dead.
Aleksei: And so
Aleksei: As we see
Ilya: ... is she conscious?
DM: Conscious, yes.
Ilya: ffff
DM: reeling from the blow, but quite conscious
Ilya: you're shitting me
Aleksei: What makes people villains rather than minions
Aleksei: Is hps.
Ilya: yeeep
DM: She is most definitely a notminion.
Ilya: well that's all I got.
DM: Taranis is up (Aleksei on deck)
*** Taranis ' Sleep goes off
DM: Indeed.
Taranis: looks like I can now hit 5,7,8,9
DM: Indeed.
DM: /try -1
*** DM rolls attempts for DM :
*** DM 1d20 < 16 = 16 > + 0 - 1 = 15
Taranis: poor bastards
DM: Failure?
Taranis: DC 16
DM: They are asleep.
Aleksei: Mmm so
Aleksei: Who's injured
*** Taranis moves
Ilya: I am
Luxa: x_x
Ilya: ve3ry much so
DM: Trip and Ilya
Aleksei: Sigh
Ilya: 4/12
Luxa: -4/11
Ilya: hahaha
Ilya: rofl
Ilya: well
Ilya: you could instead like
Ilya: Inflict this bitch
Ilya: or something
Ilya: she's apparently almost down
Aleksei: I don't have that prepped and I bet I'd miss anyway.
Ilya: lol
Aleksei: Instead
Bolgan: so I take it you're playing a blind cleric
Aleksei: I will drop the charge
Aleksei: And channel energy
Aleksei: /roll 1d6
*** DM rolls dice for Aleksei: 1d6 < 4 = 4 > = 4
Aleksei: 4 points of healing to whoever needs it
Aleksei: And is not a bad guy
Luxa: And has the best mini ever.
Bolgan: looooooool
Ilya: yay
DM: Trip wakes up.
DM: Groggily.
DM: (just as a bunch of bandits hit the floor around her)
Luxa: [Trip] I'm seeing quadruple
Elias: I support this change of mini
Ilya: let the bandits hit the floor?
DM: … haha
DM: Alright.
DM: well, we've got us a female bandit.
Aleksei: HIT ME!
*** Ilya still growling at her
Aleksei: I'm healing all my dudes!
Ilya: //... aleksei is a masochist
*** Female Bandit reels from the blow
Bolgan: lol.
Ilya: //no you fool kill the one in the dress!
*** Ilya points his sword
Ilya: You will pay for your crimes, brigand!
*** Female Bandit to hell with this. I've got better things to do than die for that bastard.
Aleksei: oh shit she is serving some bigger bad
*** Female Bandit withdraws.
Luxa: huh?
Ilya: withdraws?
Ilya: where
Aleksei: She draws with
Ilya: no I am justw ondering what path she takes
Ilya: that lets her leave unmolested
Ilya: yeah how did she do that
DM: Trip is unarmed, and thus not threatening.
Elias: over the corpses of her sleeping buddies?
Luxa: no kidding
Ilya: and um
Ilya: prone yeah
Ilya: but she's moving through difficult terrain
DM: Only the first square.
Aleksei: That doesn't prevent one from withdrawing
Ilya: yeah no I know it doesn't prevent her
DM: In fact, only the square she started in is difficult.
Ilya: sleeping guys
Ilya: are difficult terrain
DM: Are they?
Ilya: yes
Ilya: def.
DM: Ok, she'sthere.
Luxa: Hee hee
DM: Let's have some perception.
Elias: /try 7
*** DM rolls attempts for Elias :
*** DM 1d20 < 8 = 8 > + 7 = 15
Ilya: /try -1
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM 1d20 < 4 = 4 > + 0 - 1 = 3
Bolgan: me too?
DM: You can see her reaching into a pouch and pulling something out as she runs.
Taranis: /try 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Taranis :
*** DM 1d20 < 9 = 9 > + 2 = 11
DM: ok...
DM: (Not Bolgan)
DM: Elias is up.
Aleksei: /try 3;perception
*** DM rolls attempts for Aleksei :
*** DM (perception) 1d20 < 13 = 13 > + 3 = 16
Ilya: get herrrr
DM: Aleksei notes that whatever it is is vial shaped.
Ilya: sensible
Elias: I try and shoot her I guess
Elias: 's about all I can do
Elias: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Elias :
*** DM 1d20 < 9 = 9 > + 3 = 12
Elias: nope
Ilya: jeeeez
DM: She's got a whole mess of cover from where you are atm.
Elias: my dice are back to hating double digits
Elias: I am taking that into account
Elias: I've been subtracting 2 constantly
Elias: from my attack rolls
Luxa: :(
DM: Ok.
Elias: should I be subtracting more?
DM: (in this case, yes)
Elias: well I miss anyway
Elias: less numbers isn't going to change anything
Ilya: sux :(
DM: Trip is up… staggered I believe is the condition (able to take only a standard or move action)
Ilya: yeah
DM: (and unable to do anything strenuous)
Ilya: also prone
Bolgan: your mom is strenuous
Luxa: um, is picking up the hatchet strenuous?
Ilya: yeah she's probably be unconscious if she tried to do your mom
DM: Picking up the hatchet or standing up is not strenuous.
Ilya: picking up stuff is not strenuous but attacking with it would be
Luxa: Even a sleeping person?
Ilya: lol
DM: If you wanted to do it effectively… yes.
Ilya: yeah it's the swinging.
Ilya: but attacking a sleeping person would wake them up
Elias: would throwing a rabid lemming at someone be strenuous?
Ilya: unless you are like, Coup De Graceing them
Elias: technically the lemming is doing the attacking
DM: I… would believe so, yes.
Ilya: throwing is strenuous!
Ilya: anyway
DM: So… Trip picks up the hatchet.
Elias: how about gently coaxing a lemming to go attack someone?
Ilya: probably not strenuous.
*** Bandits are up.
Luxa: Heeeere lemming
*** Elias notes this for future use
*** Bandits #6 sees his boss fleeing.
Luxa: Go bite the sleepy man's jugular.
Bolgan: om nom nom
*** Bandits #6 climbs down from up above.
*** Bandits #1 and #4 surround Bolgan
Bandits: /try 4 4
*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 17 = 17 > + 4 = 21
*** DM 1d20 < 14 = 14 > + 4 = 18
Bolgan: AoO?
Ilya: tons of AoOs
Elias: the last words he would hear would be a tiny squeaky voice crying out "Rabiiiiiiiiies!"
Elias: yes....i will teach my attack lemming to speak
DM: on #4, yes. #1 has enough move to get around
Bolgan: (on 4, I mean)
Bolgan: ok
Ilya: well you have some animal handling so I believe it
Bolgan: alas, I have wasted my stunning fist
Ilya: that was a total waste, yes
Ilya: just crit him again
Ilya: for all his hp
Bolgan: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 1 = 1 > + 3 = 4
Bolgan: :/
*** Bandits dodges deftly.
Bolgan: those are of course both hits
*** Bandits hit?
Bandits: /roll 2d6+2
*** DM rolls dice for Bandits: 2d6 < 5 3 = 8 > + 2 = 10
DM: (now that the din has died down locally, the rest of you hear the sounds of battle further off)
Aleksei: Sadly Bolgan is far beyond the reach of my healing
Bolgan: what counts as strenuous?
DM: Attacking, running.
DM: Withdrawing, I believe is not.
Bolgan: withdrawing?
Bolgan: ok
DM: (someone check that)
Aleksei: Drawing and quaffing a potion does not, fr.ex.
DM: Bolgan is up.
Taranis: generally, I think, standard actions are strenuous, and move actions are not
DM: (with Ilya next up)
Luxa: [Trip] If I can, withdrawing might not be a bad idea
Ilya: well
Ilya: you're not threatened
DM: (no one threatening you at the moment)
Aleksei: Note
Ilya: the bandits around you are asleep
Aleksei: If you withdraw real far
DM: (All four of those bandits are asleep)
Aleksei: Then my healing won't reach you
Ilya: what's the range on that, 30ft?
Bolgan: well
Bolgan: hopefully if I drop unconscious they won't kill me
Aleksei: yes
Aleksei: fyi
Aleksei: Disabled (0 Hit Points)
Aleksei:
Aleksei: When your current hit point total drops to exactly 0, you are disabled.
Aleksei:
Aleksei: You gain the staggered condition and can only take a single move or standard action each turn (but not both, nor can you take full-round actions). You can take move actions without further injuring yourself, but if you perform any standard action (or any other strenuous action) you take 1 point of damage after completing the act. Unless your activity increased your hit points, you are now at –1 hit points and dying.
Aleksei:
Aleksei:
Luxa: I'll stay put and provide instant flanking buddy
DM: (note, btw, that you can fake unconsciousness)
Aleksei: I personally plan to go after the bandit chick
Bolgan: (and what kind of check is that
Taranis: I was planning to zap her
DM: (Let's say an easy bluff)
Ilya: zapping her is fine
Aleksei: zapping is good
Ilya: if that doesn't work out, I can shoot her
Bolgan: (definitely won't be doing that)
Aleksei: indeed
Luxa: I stand. Move on.
Taranis: What's your Cha, 5? :)
Bolgan: I 5-ft
Bolgan: correct
DM: k
Aleksei: Is it actually 5
Ilya: you can get shit down to 5?
Bolgan: and punch bandit 1
DM: 7-2
Bolgan: it is actually 5
Ilya: ohhh
Ilya: race
Bolgan: and literally 5
Bolgan: so yes
Bolgan: a punch
DM: Roll it, and you're unconscious
Bolgan: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 16 = 16 > + 3 = 19
DM: a hit!
Bolgan: /roll 1d6+2
*** DM rolls dice for Bolgan: 1d6 < 6 = 6 > + 2 = 8
Bolgan: and I'm down
Aleksei: You punched him so hard that you knocked yourself out
Aleksei: That's impressive
Luxa: Brave Bolgan.
DM: And he's just barely not.
DM: ok
DM: Ilya!
Aleksei: Bolgan has decided that the best way to fake unconsciousness is to actually be unconscious
Bolgan: you see
Ilya: ok so
Bolgan: the goal is to not take any more swings
DM: (y'all heard the sound of a bunch of dudes getting beat up on the other side of the trees, btw)
Bolgan: because that would kill me
Ilya: does she have cover from me here
Ilya: where I moved
DM: partial cover from the logs.
Ilya: so that's 2
DM: Yep
Ilya: ok well
Bolgan: so hopefully being convincingly unconscious means I don't die
Ilya: I move there after dropping my sword
Ilya: and while drawing and notching my bow
*** Ilya fires at the fleeing villain
DM: Roll it.
Ilya: /try 4
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM 1d20 < 10 = 10 > + 4 = 14
Ilya: that is without cover
DM: (that's with the -4)?
Ilya: no
DM: err
DM: (-2)
Ilya: since cover is a AC bonus
DM: A miss.
Ilya: and not an attack penalty
Ilya: oh well
DM: Alright.
DM: (btw, what did Taranis do last round besides finish his spell?)
Taranis: moved and that was all
DM: (ah, ok)
Taranis: for some reason I didn't cast more spells
DM: Well, he's up now
*** Ilya curses his lack of practice with a bow
Taranis: Well then
Taranis: points his staff
*** Taranis Bonded Item Magic Missile!
Taranis: /roll 1d4+2
*** DM rolls dice for Taranis: 1d4 < 1 = 1 > + 2 = 3
Taranis: damn you dice :(
DM: Just as she's about to quaff a potion...
DM: A bolt of magical energy strikes her in the back and she collapses.
Bolgan: what the fuck does that even mean
Ilya: quaff means drink :P
Ilya: lol
Elias: fancy speak for 'chug'
*** Bandits #6 look of abject horror.
Taranis: That is using my substitute for a familiar to pretend I'm a sorcerer.
Bolgan: I meant Bonded Item Magic Missile :/
Ilya: <_<
Bolgan: I see
Elias: I stand by my previous statement
Bolgan: your familiar is a stick, then
Taranis: wizards who take Bonded Item instead of Familiar get 1 spontaneous spell slot per day
DM: Aleksei is up.
Bolgan: and not, like, a fancy car
Ilya: 8/12
DM: (He could cast fly on the stick and ride it >.>)
Aleksei: Soo
DM: (That would be a rather sweeping gesture though)
Aleksei: The female bandit is
Luxa: The stick needs some bristles
Aleksei: Unconscious?
Ilya: yes
DM: unconscious, yes.
Aleksei: // THIS
Aleksei: // IS
Aleksei: // MY
Aleksei: // BROOMSTICK
Elias: //boo
Aleksei: // don't blame me, blame Eliezer Yudkowsky :p
Aleksei: Hmm
Aleksei: Anyone need more heals?
Luxa: [trip] Bolgan and myself aren't great.
Aleksei: Anyone look notably injured?
Aleksei: Well I can't help Bolgan
Aleksei: He is who knows where
DM: Trip and Ilya
Aleksei: mmk
Aleksei: I move like so:
Aleksei: And channel energy
Ilya: <- 8/12
Aleksei: /roll 1d6
*** DM rolls dice for Aleksei: 1d6 < 1 = 1 > = 1
Aleksei: Wow
DM: Wow indeed.
Aleksei: Well you guys take a healing.
Ilya: channel is not amazing
DM: Well, Trip isn't staggered anymore
Ilya: truth
Bolgan: that's one way to put it
Ilya: it gets better though
Aleksei: No channel isn't great but it's useful
Luxa: Exactly. I can swing things
Aleksei: AoE is good
Ilya: yeah
Taranis: it is good at spreading the love and conserving other resources
DM: The sounds of combat have subsided from behind that wall of trees.
DM: Elias is up.
Aleksei: And it's (Su) which is good in melee
Elias: hmm
Aleksei: Cast defensively is harder nowadays
Elias: I guess I move to go investigate
Ilya: ok we still have a guy up here
Ilya: bandit 6 is not unconscious
Elias: and that's my turn. Takes a double move to get there
Ilya: just be aware of that
DM: #6 is fleeing.
Elias: I know
DM: k
DM: Trip is at 1 hp and no longer staggered.
DM: (and up)
Aleksei: pwn some dudes
DM: (with the bandits up next)
Ilya: dude some pwns
Aleksei: Don't let my divine healing power have been wasted!
DM: (Desna only heals those…
DM: … who are shiny and awesome?)
Aleksei: yes
Aleksei: Precisely and exactly correct
DM: (but not sparkly)
DM: Trip?
DM: ok… well, while she's deciding what to do…
Aleksei: Holy symbol of Desna:
DM: on the other side of the tree line.
Luxa: um, shift down 1
Bandits: #1: Bugger nearly got us.
*** Bandits #4: Yeah… not worth much either. Bastard has nothing on him.
Luxa: and whack bandit 8?
*** Bandits #1: We'd best get him to [CENSORED]
Luxa: Since no one else is handy?
Ilya: well
Ilya: he's asleep
DM: #8 is unconscious. You can coup de grace him…
*** Bandits #4: oh, alright.
*** Bandits #4: She'll be pissed though
*** Ilya isn't sure he approves of cold blooded murder when we've successfully disabled someone
Ilya: CdG is a full round action
Luxa: True enough.
*** Aleksei definitely wouldn't approve if he were paying attention
Luxa: Dunno if I can reach 6 but I can try.
Luxa: Fine, I'll move there
Bandits: 'ts only a -4 to hit on a throw. >.>
DM: err
*** DM said that.
DM: err, right, diagonals, -6
DM: Alright.
Luxa: Sadly, I only have one weapon. And I'd hate to disarm myself.
*** DM #6 flees further.
*** Bandits #6 flees further.
Ilya: those who flee further
Ilya: just doesn't have the same ring to it.
Bandits: Anyone interested in giving pursuit, roll a con check when your turn comes up.
*** Bandits #1 and #4 start dragging Bolgan over to the campsite.
*** Ilya doesn't care enough to pursue
Ilya: Now that we've taken down the fearsome leader...
Ilya: The group shouldn't be a big deal.
Bandits: Bolgan's up… and bleeds/stabilizes?
DM: and… then… Ilya!
Bolgan: /roll 1d10
*** DM rolls dice for Bolgan: 1d10 < 7 = 7 > = 7
Bolgan: ow
Bolgan: next
Aleksei: I think the mechanic may be different in PF
Bolgan: oh?
Elias: isn't it a fort save?
Elias: or a dc 10 or something? Or am I thinking of saving throws/fumbles?
Ilya: On the character's next turn, after being reduced to negative hit points (but not dead), and on all subsequent turns, the character must make a DC 10 Constitution check to become stable. The character takes a penalty on this roll equal to his negative hit point total. A character that is stable does not need to make this check. A natural 20 on this check is an automatic success. If the character fails this check, he loses 1 hit point. If a dying creature has an amount of negative hit points equal to its Constitution score, it dies.
Ilya: this doesn't seem any more favorable
Ilya: unless you have tons of con.
Aleksei: Well
Aleksei: It
Bolgan: ok
DM: @Ilya: You heard a brief sound of combat from the other side of the trees, and now all you hear is a bunch of voices chatting and growing louder.
Aleksei: It's more favorable if you have ANY Con bonus at all
*** Ilya looks around
Bolgan: /try 1
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 16 = 16 > + 1 = 17
DM: Bolgan stabilizes!
*** Bolgan stabilizes
*** Ilya creeps around the trees
Aleksei: Actually nm, it's way more favorable, what am I saying
DM: 50% chance of success initially.
Ilya: yeah
Ilya: it's mor efavorable
Ilya: can I see shit from there
DM: Ilya sees two bandits dragging a dwarf towards the campsite.
DM: an unconscious dwarf.
*** Ilya nocks another arrow while doing so
Ilya: which one looks more beat up?
DM: the bandits see him and reach for their swords.
Ilya: one of them does, right?
Bandits: err
*** Bandits #1 looks like he's just barely hanging in there
*** Ilya shoots him
<<< Female Bandit has left >>> <<< 04:14:53 PM >>>

DM: Taranis!
*** Ilya yells to his companions
Ilya: More of them! Over here!
Taranis: moves to see
*** Taranis gets to there and is out of movement
DM: Aleksei!
DM: (Elias next)
*** Aleksei barges through the trees
*** Aleksei sees bandits
DM: Elias!
Aleksei: wait
Elias: I move there....the end
Aleksei: I'm not done
DM: (Trip next)
*** Aleksei spellcasts
Elias: doesn't matter I can't do anything
Aleksei: Hey! Stop!
Elias: I have to double move
*** Aleksei @ bandit #4
Aleksei: That's a Command
Aleksei: command:halt
Aleksei: Will DC 14

*** DM rolls attempts for Bandits :
*** DM 1d20 < 11 = 11 > + 0 - 1 = 10

Bolgan: good old fashioned command
Aleksei: He takes no actions for 1 round
*** Bandits will comply.
Ilya: good old command.
DM: Ok.
DM: Elias!
Elias: I move
Elias: then I stand there
DM: k
DM: Trip!
Elias: because I apparently don't move fast enough yet to get out of cover range
Luxa: move there
Luxa: and done
DM: K.
*** Bandits see craptons of mans in their base, and decide that they'd rather not find out why.
*** Bandits flee.
<<< Bandits has left >>> <<< 04:20:27 PM >>>
DM: Care to give chase?
Aleksei: Just one of them!
Aleksei: The other is Commanded.
DM: Ah, indeed.
Aleksei: I was like
Aleksei: sudo halt
Taranis: I don't actually think we can catch them
Ilya: sudo wait 6
Ilya: is more like it
Taranis: him
Ilya: so
DM: Well, that one is easily subduded.
Ilya: can we knock out the commanded dude this round
Taranis: (the only spells I have left are Close)
Ilya: ok
Ilya: so we have 5 guys

Ilya: and an unconscious dwarf!

Ilya: yep
Ilya: tie em good
DM: K.
Taranis: so we can question them before ending them
DM: Y'all have some bandits.
Ilya: also
Ilya: let's get a sweep of their encampment
*** Aleksei shakes his head
Ilya: see what they have if anything
Aleksei: People around here!
Luxa: [Trip] Can I kick them?
Aleksei: Well I guess we defeated some, uh
Ilya: first thing we should find out
Aleksei: Malefactors.

Aleksei: Today.

*** Ilya retrieves his sword
*** Ilya and ammunition
DM: So… while you work this business out...
Bolgan: Owwwww . . .
DM: The bandits were equipped as the last batch. 2 fled, so you have 7x the following:
DM: Leather Armor, Longbow, 20 arrrows, short sword, 2 days rations, 10 gp
DM: And the leader was equipped as follows:
*** Ilya takes 20 more arrows
Elias: mind sharing some of those?
Luxa: How nice is the armor?
Ilya: looks pretty lame
Ilya: well we have 7x what he said
Ilya: so that's like
DM: An almost uncorked potion, studded leather armor, 2 well crafted hand axes, 3 daggers (+1 that a quick search of the shrubbery where you entered turns up), 85 gp
Ilya: 120 more arrows
Elias: yeah I see that now, sorry
Taranis: well-crafted = masterwork?
DM: indeed
Ilya: i assume
*** Elias takes 25 arrows
Aleksei: Can we identify the potion
Aleksei: With our big Spellcraft scores
Ilya: I can
Ilya: it's cure light wounds
Ilya: I didn't even have to roll
DM: Indeed, it is CLW
Ilya: see
Bolgan: me neither
Ilya: I'm the shit
Taranis: yeah, and I can roll like mad
Luxa: I like axes.
Ilya: so
Ilya: we have here
Ilya: Two people
Taranis: So who are you two, then?
Ilya: one human, one dwarf
DM: Trip has been here for a little bit, and can inform you the bandits keep stuffs in a small tarp-covered hide under the platform at 25,16
Ilya: Captured by bandits I see?
Ilya: Oh, that's helpful
Ilya: Thanks
Luxa: yep.
Ilya: So what's your deals?
Bolgan: So you aren't the bandit leaders then?
Ilya: No.
Ilya: This one is.
Bolgan: that's a pleasant surprise
*** Ilya points
Ilya: We beat her up.
Luxa: That should teach me from leaving the traveling circus, I guess.
Taranis: No, we're the bandit cleaners.
DM: Currently in the hide is...
Ilya: Yes we were asked to "deal" with these guys.
Bolgan: I was honestly passing through
Ilya: They have been extorting Oleg, a trader from up north.
Luxa: Thank you for "dealing" with them so effectively.
Elias: The traveling circus?
Ilya: It was our duty.
Aleksei: We're adventurers.
*** Ilya folds his arms
Aleksei: We're here to save everyone.
Bolgan: My name is Bolgan, and I've actually been looking around for a proper place in the area to start over
Aleksei: Well, you know
*** Ilya raises an eyebrow
Aleksei: Except the people we defeat
Aleksei: Because they're evil
Ilya: More to the point...
DM: 321 sp, 90 gp, a pair of silver earrings, a wooden music box, three crates of furs, a polished wooden case with 8 bottles of some sort of greenish alcohol.
Aleksei: oho.
Ilya: We've been contracted by the Swordlords to explore and clear out this area.
DM: (as well as Trip's belongings)
*** Aleksei is distracted from the conversation and goes to check out the alcohol
Bolgan: clear out?
Elias: Rid the land of bandits and thieves like this
Ilya: Yes, many unsavory types inhabit these hills and woods.
Luxa: I'm trying to accrue other skills besides acrobatics and throwing axes at my siblings.
Taranis: Remove bandits, and such
*** Elias gestures to the bandits
Bolgan: hmm
Bolgan: Bandits and unsavory types are a problem to everyone
Ilya: We're here to make it safe for good and well-meaning folks to travel here.
*** Aleksei comes back
Aleksei: So hey what'd you mean by
Aleksei: "start over"
DM: The alcohol is… green.
*** Aleksei is talking to Bolgan
Luxa: How unsavory... I have an uncle who smells pretty rank.
Luxa: ?
Ilya: Probably that unsavory.
*** Ilya shakes his head
Bolgan: Well . . . I've set out from home after being laughed out - apparently I don't qualify as a "proper dwarf"
Luxa: [Trip] oh...
Bolgan: and none of the people in the area I've met thus far have been terribly accommodating or hospitable
Taranis: What, too ugly even for dwarvenkind?
*** Elias glares at Taranis
Ilya: In any event, it was nice to meet you two, but now that we've dealt with these ruffians, we need to question them.
Bolgan: to hear some tell it, yes :/
Luxa: [Trip] Why not?
Ilya: See if they have any more allies.
Taranis: I must admit, I can never tell the difference
Ilya: //taranis is an elf
Aleksei: Hey Taranis be nice.
Elias: My friend, if there is ever a place to start over for those that are considered 'not normal' this would be a good place to start
*** Elias is talking to Bolgan
Bolgan: that's what I'm hoping
Aleksei: So Ilya, you heard what the bandit chick said, right
Ilya: Yes.
Luxa: ... living idenpendently is really hard.
Ilya: Can you um...
Ilya: Wake her up?
Aleksei: I guess.
*** Aleksei channels energy
*** Ilya checks all the knots on the ropes
*** Aleksei heals all allies plus the bandit leader woman
Aleksei: /roll 1d6
*** DM rolls dice for Aleksei: 1d6 < 5 = 5 > = 5
DM: I believe that leaves her… staggered.
Aleksei: perfect
Luxa: [Trip] Thank you, Band-aid Box Man!
Aleksei: :|
Elias: I know your situation well...trust me, it's generally the 'normal' ones who are worse off than we are
*** Ilya salutes Band-Aid-Box-Man
*** Aleksei stands over the bandit leader and tries to look intimidating
*** Ilya glares down at the tied up bandit leader
*** Ilya doesn't have to try
Elias: they're so worried about fitting in, they lose sight of the bigger picture.
Aleksei: How does it feel, being evil? Not so good now I bet!
<<< Female Bandit has joined >>> <<< 04:35:35 PM >>>
*** Ilya blinks
Luxa: ***trip dances around with the bandit leader's axes
*** Female Bandit scowls
*** Female Bandit looks at Aleksei.
Female Bandit: Pity. I really could have used them in my collection.
*** Ilya bends down, grabs the leader by her collar and hoists her up
Ilya: All right knave.
Ilya: Are there more of you out there?
*** Female Bandit smirks.
Female Bandit: And what if there are?
Ilya: Then you'll tell me where to find them.
Aleksei: You better tell us!
*** Female Bandit chuckles.
Female Bandit: And then what… the block? Female Bandit: No, I think I prefer the axes in my own hand.
Ilya: That is not Iomedae's way.
*** Ilya narrows his eyes
Ilya: Let's get something straight.
Luxa: [Trip spitefully] Too bad you're hands are tied up.
Ilya: You're going to be tried for your crimes.
Ilya: Either it can be by the laws of civilization.
Luxa: (your)
Ilya: Or the laws of combat, out here on the frontier.
*** Ilya draws his shortsword and puts it to her throat
Ilya: And out here, I am judge, jury, and executioner.
Female Bandit: I was never much for civilization.
Ilya: But if you want to make it through this...
Elias: So you're willing to die for you fellow bandits?
Luxa: [Trip] gasp!
*** Ilya takes the sword away
Ilya: You can talk.
Ilya: //tell me when to roll intimidate Oliver...
DM: //go for it
Female Bandit: Of course not. But I'd really rather spite you.
Ilya: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM 1d20 < 7 = 7 > + 3 = 10
Ilya: // :|
Luxa: // heehee intimidate Oliver
*** Female Bandit grins, wolflike.
Ilya: //implied comma
Elias: somehow I don't think spite is going to be what you'll be achieving here
*** Ilya drops her to the ground unceremoniously
Elias: if you won't talk, one of your buddies over there might
Elias: or the next group of you we find....or the next....
*** Ilya goes over to the bandit Aleksei commanded
Elias: then you'll have died for nothing
Ilya: How about you?
Female Bandit: I'm sure they will. And I'm sure they'll get their just rewards for it.
Ilya: You want to get out of this situation alive?
Female Bandit: You know… I really like those fingers of yours.
Luxa: [Trip] Bandits don't have a reputation for a strong code of ethics and loyalty, you know
Elias: so someone scarier than death is your boss?
Female Bandit: Pah. Scary?
Elias: That's what you seem to be implying
Elias: why else sacrifice your life for his secret
Elias: if not for fear of what he might do to you?
*** Ilya still poking at the other bandit...
Female Bandit: I know the laws for bandits. Either way I'm dead. Female Bandit: Tell you what. You let me go free, I'll tell you where he is.
*** Ilya stillll poking at bandit #4 *** Elias looks to the rest of the party for their input
<<< Bandit #4 has joined >>> <<< 04:45:03 PM >>>
Bandit #4: Uuurngh.
Bandit #4: Ow, hey, stop that you git.
*** Bandit #4 suddenly realizes he's tied up.
*** Ilya backhands him
Bandit #4: What?
Ilya: Yes, understand your situation.
*** Female Bandit glares at him
Ilya: Your boss doesn't fear death.
Ilya: Do you?
DM: Intimidate.
Ilya: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM 1d20 < 2 = 2 > + 3 = 5
Ilya: oh god.
*** Female Bandit glares something fierce.
Aleksei: Well, you're going to fear us!
Elias: She also doesn't seem to fear sacrificing you either
Aleksei: When we're done with you!
Bandit #4: I… err… umm...
Elias: /try 5

*** DM 1d20 < 19 = 19 > + 5 = 24

Bandit #4: uhh...
*** DM rolls attempts for Aleksei :
*** DM (intimidate) 1d20 < 15 = 15 > + 1 = 16
Elias: that's intimidate
Ilya: you took intimidate
Ilya: but not stealth
Ilya: >:|
Elias: it's a class skill :P
Ilya: but!
Ilya: stealth!
Bandit #4: Uhh...
Elias: //in all honesty I thought we were going to be a more urban game initially
Elias: //also....I have 5 skill points
Ilya: //stealth is good for urban games :(
Ilya: //more than me :/
*** Taranis wishes Pathfinder had Arcane Mutterings
Elias: //for rogues!
*** DM is trying to decide who he fears more… Elias or the Female Bandit
*** Bandit #4 is
Ilya: //stealth works the same for everyone
Elias: also...level 1....you can't win them all
Bolgan: what skills did you take?
Elias: handle animal, climb intimidate, knowledge nature, perception, survival
*** Bandit #4 notes that the female bandit is tied up.
Taranis: Maybe we take her <points> back to Oleg's; see if he'd like to take her hands off.
Elias: because not having all of those has burned me
Elias: at some point or another
Taranis: Or maybe we should just do that right here.
Bandit #4: I… err… what do you want to know?!?
Ilya: Are there more of you bandits out here?
Ilya: Where are they?
*** Bandit #4 glances at FB
*** Female Bandit glares.
Elias: Don't look at her
Elias: She can't help you
*** Ilya puts his sword to the bandit's throat
Elias: She's pretty much ready to let you die for her secret
Ilya: Can't help you at all.
Bandit #4: uhh… eerr… well… there's a few of us here.
Elias: where is your boss
Elias: ?
Bandit #4: and umm.. back at the fort.
Ilya: Where's the fort?
Bandit #4: The creepy dude… calls himself the stag lord.
*** Female Bandit glares more.
*** Ilya tired of this
*** Ilya walks over to the female bandit
*** Ilya punches her in the skull until she is unconscious
Elias: //hehe you did what i was about to do
*** Female Bandit unconscious after 1 blow.
Luxa: [Trip mutters] She deserves worse.
Bandit #4: He… he wears this helmet.
Ilya: //i am all over the intimidate process
Bandit #4: pair of antlers, like a stag.
Ilya: //too bad I can't roll for shit
Bandit #4: I… I don't think he ever takes it off.
*** Ilya nods
Ilya: And where do we find him?
Luxa: Clearly.
*** Bandit #4 is a little more relaxed now that the female bandit is down.
Bandit #4: The fort…
Bandit #4: on the north shore of Tuskwater lake.
*** Ilya looks at Taranis
Taranis: /try 7;Geography

DM: Already (roughly) marked
Ilya: so
Ilya: south
Bandit #4: And he'll be pissed.
Ilya: Yeah well so am I.
Bandit #4: I seen him crush a man's skull with his fist.
Ilya: We'll have a pissing contest when I defeat him.
Aleksei: Well we'll crush his...
Bandit #4: but see that booze over there… he doesn't get that, he'll be right mad.
Taranis: So he's strong.
Aleksei: um...
Taranis: Why's that?
Taranis: What's so special about these bottles?
*** Ilya thinks
*** Aleksei detect magic
Bandit #4: Something about him lately… he ain't half the man he used to be…
*** Bandit #4 pauses
Bandit #4: He's a bloody drunk. Punched my horse in the head last week for spittin in the yard.
Ilya: And when was he supposed to get this "booze"?
Ilya: Were you all to deliver it?
Bandit #4: Sometime over the next week.
Bandit #4: With the next tribute shipment.
Ilya: ...
Ilya: I have an idea.
Taranis: Oh?
Aleksei: We deliver the booze to him?
Ilya: How well does he know all of you?
Ilya: And is he expecting this bitch to deliver it personally?
*** Ilya jerks thumb at female thief
Ilya: bandit*
Bandit #4: No… there's a lot of us… it's hard to keep track of everyone who's coming and going.
Ilya: Perfect.
Aleksei: I like this idea
Bandit #4: There's always some sort of pass phrase.
Ilya: Do you know it?
Bandit #4: I'll be damned if I know what it is this week though.
Aleksei: Which you're going to tell us right?
Ilya: Do any of these guys know it?
Aleksei: Well that sucks.
Bandit #4: Only one who knows is her.
Aleksei: Hmm
*** Bandit #4 starts mutering.
Taranis: // Well I suppose we can bargain with her on she gets to live if we take out this stag lord, because he won't be around to hunt her down...
Ilya: //how's aleksei's bluff?
Bandit #4: I helped ya, right… you'll let me go, right??
Ilya: Not a chance.
Ilya: You'll stand trial for your crimes.
Bandit #4: but… but...
Ilya: You did the right thing.
Aleksei: So Ilya
Ilya: Perhaps you will gain some leniency for that.
Aleksei: What are we going to do with these guys anyway?
Luxa: [Trip] He's also done plenty of wrong things.
*** Bandit #4 withdraws and starts muttering.
Ilya: Take them back to Oleg's.
Aleksei: Drag them back to Oleg's on leashes?
Ilya: Send them back to Brevoy for trial.
DM: perception?
Taranis: Not like he has the facilities or guards to deal with it.

DM: Elias notes him mutter something about "that creepy <garbled> in the basement"
Ilya: trussed up on our horses?
Elias: I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that. Would you speak up?
Aleksei: Horses can't carry THAT many...
*** Bandit #4 keeps muttering.
*** Ilya counts
*** Elias grabs the bandit's collar and glares at him
*** Bandit #4 curls up into a foetal position.
Elias: What creepy thing in the basement?
DM: intimidate

*** Taranis whispers to Ilya "Simplest to just kill them here and now, rather than waste time."
*** Aleksei shrugs
Aleksei: They'll get hanged in Restov anyway.
Ilya: //how many do we have?
Bandit #4: the… the stag lord. He ain't right in the head… keeps a man locked up in the basement. Only he ain't a man no more. Like looking into terror. he's callin the shots, I know it."
Aleksei: What
Ilya: //well
*** Bandit #4 keeps mutering.
Ilya: //if killing them is morally acceptable then we can do that.
DM: // According to your charter, the penalty for banditry is death.
Ilya: //noted
Elias: Describe this thing. Is it a beast? An illness the man contracted? A curse?
Taranis: // I have no moral issues with it myself
DM: to quote " The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope."
Aleksei: Well Ilya has a sword
Aleksei: So we can do that.
*** Ilya grabs Bandit #4
Ilya: Snap out of it!
DM: Terror… not a man no more.
*** Bandit #4 said that.
*** Ilya slap
Aleksei: But maybe if this guy helps us we can let him live?
Ilya: //ok I guess I got some world details wrong
Ilya: //you can ignore all the stuff I said about trial etc.
Ilya: //it is hard being lawful good in a less lawful universe
DM: Note though, "unrepentant"
Ilya: mhm
Ilya: Ok.
Ilya: Wake them all up.
Elias: Then what is is this Terror?
Ilya: The sleeping ones.
Luxa: But does ratting count as repentant?
Ilya: while we get this #4 to talk clearly
DM: It is unlikely that he'd get a reprieve from a magistrate in Restov though.
Taranis: // Just convene an impromptu trial with you as judge right here
Ilya: //I got this, it's cool
Ilya: so
*** Ilya wakes them all up
DM: The female as well?
Ilya: nah
<<< Bandit #4 is now known as Bandits >>>
Ilya: the sleeping ones.
*** Bandits are up.
*** Bandits would have woken up by now.
Ilya: All right. As you can see, your crazy axe wielding leader has bveen defeated.
*** Bandits 's eyes widen.
Ilya: And as you should bloody well know, the punishment for banditry, in civilized Brevoy, is death.
Ilya: So.
*** Ilya draws his sword
*** Ilya chops her head off
<<< Female Bandit has left >>> <<< 05:07:35 PM >>>
*** Ilya sinks the sword into the dirt and stands over it
Taranis: // Well there goes the pass phrase
*** Bandits cower.
*** Ilya with his hands on the pommel
Ilya: Now if you renounce this lifestyle of thievery...
Elias: Uh.....hmm....well that puts a wrench in the gears.....
Ilya: //nah
*** Bandits climb over themselves to renounce their lives of sin and hedonism.
Ilya: I will be lenient, and let you flee to more civilized jobs.
*** Bandits nod vigorously.
Ilya: Fine.
*** Ilya releases all of them except #4
Taranis: // There are probably other camps in the region we can find
*** Ilya who needs to finish telling us about whatsit
Aleksei: But if we catch you guys being bandits again
Aleksei: We won't be so nice next time!
*** Ilya nods
*** Taranis stares at each of their faces, clearly committing them to memory
*** Bandits flee.
<<< Bandits is now known as Bandit #4 >>>
Luxa: [Trip scowls] That's alfully lenient.
Ilya: So #4 needs to finish telling us about the whatsit
*** Bandit #4 has come to.
*** Ilya wipes down his sword
*** Ilya sheathes it
Bandit #4: but… why do they get to…
Bandit #4: I helped you!
Elias: because you're not done telling us about the Terror in the basement
Ilya: Just, finish telling your story.
Taranis: // See if he knows about any other gropus working for this Stag Lord, too
Ilya: And then you can follow them.
*** Ilya unties him
*** Ilya keeps his hand on the bandit's shoulder
Bandit #4: The Stag Lord… he keeps a man in his basement...
Bandit #4: a scary man. I… None of us spend time in there if we can help it.
Aleksei: So like, a human or a dwarf or what?
Bandit #4: He just sits there looking at you… with … with pure hatred in his eyes.
Bandit #4: A man.
Bandit #4: I… I think he might be calling the shots…
Bandit #4: why the stag lord's become a drunk.
Ilya: That's all you know?
Bandit #4: That's all I know, I swear.
Ilya: //how's everyone's Bluff?
Elias: //poor
Ilya: Ok.
Aleksei: // shitty
*** Ilya sends the man on his way
*** Bandit #4 runs
Taranis: // nonexistent
Bolgan: // fucking horrible
<<< Bandit #4 has left >>> <<< 05:12:31 PM >>>
Luxa: //ditto
Ilya: //rofl
Elias: //I think we suck at lying
Ilya: Well.
DM: You prefer truthiness.
Bolgan: //whatevs, I suck the worst
Ilya: //I fully intend to take ranks of bluff at some level...
Ilya: //like when its a class skill
DM: ok.
DM: Where to now?
Ilya: So
Ilya: If you all want to accompany us
Taranis: // Did Trip want those two masterwork handaxes?
Ilya: To finish off these bandits...
Bolgan: I think I want to open a monastery somewhere . . . but that won't be so easy if it will just be terrorized a bunch by the bandits and the like
Ilya: You're more than welcome.
Bolgan: it seems our interests are aligned
Ilya: So we need to deliver the STag Man his... booze?
Bolgan: if you folks want help with bandits, I would be happy to
Ilya: Can anyone tell what this stuff really is?
*** Aleksei still detecting magic on it
DM: not magic in the slightest.
*** Aleksei smells it
Ilya: //any craft alchemy?
DM: It is… quite potent.
Ilya: //in the party?
Taranis: I believe so
Aleksei: But it smells like alcohol?
DM: the smell alone makes you tipsy.
Aleksei: And not like
Taranis: Yes, yes I do have it
Aleksei: Something else?
Ilya: Well anyway
DM: It smells like some sort of herbal alcohol.
Taranis: Extremely potent...
Ilya: Taranis can analyze it...
Ilya: In any event, clearly we need to deliver this to the Stag Man.
Bolgan: //back home they make alcohol from rocks 'n shit
Taranis: Well it may be our ticket past his defenses...
Ilya: Sadly, the mighty Kressle fell in battle to some adventurers.
Ilya: And thus we don't know the password!
Elias: you think they'd buy that?
Taranis: I wonder if we instead should let him get angry
*** Ilya shrugs
Ilya: I hope so.
Taranis: take his frustrations at sobriety out upon his minions.
Elias: what's to stop them from just taking the shipment and sending us on our way?
Ilya: Nothing, I guess.
Ilya: We'll have to play it by ear once we get there.
Aleksei: What if he has a lot of guys
Aleksei: And we can't take out all of them?
Taranis: Let this stag lord sober up for a couple of days.
Ilya: Try harder.
Aleksei: Well let's check it out and see, I guess.
Elias: he might end up shattering his own forces
Taranis: Rage at the world, drive his supporters away in fear.
Ilya: We also dont' know if he has other sources.
Elias: in his anger if our bandit friend spoke the truth
Taranis: Or we can search for other camps like this one
Taranis: Other small groups of bandits who may work for this Stag Lord.
*** Ilya nods
Taranis: Eliminate them one by one
Ilya: Well we do need to eliminate them anyway.
Taranis: And then, he is cut off from support, from his supplies of alcohol.
Ilya: I find it hard to believe that this is *just* alcohol.
DM: Well, it is quite green.
DM: An analysis will take a while.
Taranis: Define "a while"
Elias: You're a healer, right Aleksei?
DM: Depends on how thorough you want to be.
Aleksei: I can heal people yeah.
Aleksei: Why?
Bolgan: does it look like anything from my homeland?
*** Elias grabs a bottle, opens it and takes a swig
DM: As little as an hour to as much as day or so.
Ilya: D:
Elias: if I start dying, heal me please
Taranis: Well, that's one way to do it.
DM: Well, that is some potent stuffs.
Aleksei: Sure.
Taranis: More reckless than I prefer.
DM: Even after the first swig, you feel quite tipsy.
Elias: Well with worksh!
*** Taranis spends an hour analyzing a sample while also watching the effects on Elias
DM: No other effects that you can make out.
Elias: It worksh...
*** Ilya watches Elias warily
Elias: Strong shit.....
DM: Make a Craft(Alchemy) check Taranis.
*** Aleksei looks at Elias skeptically
Ilya: Let's set up camp here.
Elias: Seems fine otherwish.
Aleksei: You don't look hurt...
DM: And, if my time tracker is correct, then night was falling as you came upon the camp.
Taranis: /try 9
*** DM rolls attempts for Taranis :
*** DM 1d20 < 3 = 3 > + 9 = 12
DM: or not too far off at any rate.
DM: Well, it's alcohol.
Ilya: So we'll rest here.
Ilya: And set out tomorrow
Elias: //Elias will sleep heavily tonight
DM: It's also flamable… as you and the 10 ft radius around you are quick to discover.
Ilya: !
Ilya: Taranis are you all right?
Elias: do I catch fire or something?
DM: But somehow, you aren't able to reproduce that.
Bolgan: healing is done how fast again?
Luxa: O.O
Ilya: //i assumed taranis exploded
*** Taranis puts the fire out easily with Ray of Frost spam
Aleksei: Wait
Luxa: ...not able to reproduce flammability?
DM: (no damage, although there's a bunch of shrubbery that will take a little while to recover)
Aleksei: You're STILL injured, bolgan?
Taranis: // how much of the booze is consumed between the fire and the drinking?
DM: One of the eight bottles is gone.
Aleksei: I healed you for a bunch
DM: All right.
DM: Next day.
Bolgan: oh
Bolgan: I only saw the first one
DM: (the night passes uneventfully)
Ilya: So maybe it is just really potent
Bolgan: very well
*** Taranis spends part of the night fiddling with the music box
Ilya: And we didn't find whatsherface's ring
DM: You did not.
Ilya: So hopefully there are more bandits out there.
Ilya: Let's set out south?
Bolgan: hooray quest objectives
DM: Are you exploring(™), or traveling?
Ilya: um
Ilya: should we be exploring(TM)?
*** Taranis tries to determine if he can disassemble the music box and reassemble it successfully
Taranis: (before disassemble)
Aleksei: Let's explore
DM: Well, depends. The stated goal of the charter is to explore(™), but also to deal with threats.
Aleksei: At least, this area
DM: So really, your choice.
Ilya: What's the difference in time spent
Aleksei: If there are more bandit camps
DM: 1 day to explore a hex.
DM: 3-5 hours to cross one.
Ilya: if there are more bandit camps then would we come across them just traveling
Ilya: or would we need to be exploring
Taranis: Well, they are likely to be near trails and other traveled areas
Ilya: also did these guys have any horses
Ilya: for our new friends
DM: Depends on how well hidden they are. This camp for example, you found because you knew where it was. If you were just traveling through the hex, you probably wouldn't have.
Ilya: ah
Ilya: so we epxlore then
Taranis: (but we might get ambushed)
DM: let's see here.
Ilya: yeah well I am not afraid of no ambush
*** Ilya takes Kressle's head
*** Ilya carries it in a sack
DM: There are 3 horses tied up to trees nearby.
Ilya: score.
Bolgan: fuckin smart
Ilya: So we take those horses
DM: ok
Ilya: and all our loot
Ilya: and explore
Taranis: Load the rest of the equipment and wealth on the last horse
DM: Ok… you spend the day exploring the rest of the hex. It is all forest, but otherwise unremarkable.
DM: Where to now?
Taranis: I'd say E5, follow the river?
Ilya: yeah
Ilya: agreed
DM: Keep following the river, exploring the entire way?
Ilya: yes
Aleksei: Agreed
DM: Ok.
Luxa: *explore explore explore *
Taranis: this will be 12 of the newly looted rations going away by the end of the day
DM: The river deepens and gets larger as you go further south, and the forest thins out into rolling hills.
Taranis: And Trip has those two axes, yes?
*** Ilya wants a masterwork weapon :/
Taranis: // deleting them from the party loot page
Ilya: any chance we can forage while we explore
DM: The river keeps going SE through to F5. About midway through the hex is a rickety-looking bridge, probably the only place where it's safe to cross in this hex.
Ilya: perhaps augment our rations
DM: Not to augment, but if you go at half speed it's an easy survival check to consume no rations.
Taranis: does that mean 2 days to explore?
DM: Hmm...
DM: for a speed of 25...
DM: That's 2 days to explore a forest or hill hex, 1 day to explore a grassland hex.
Ilya: hm
Ilya: i started with 10 in my pack
DM: And it's survival DC 10 for 1 person, and for every 2 pts you exceed that, you cover another person
Ilya: are we in danger of running out of food?
Taranis: Likewise 10
DM: You are now… about a day away from Oleg's
Taranis: we have 2 more in the general party fund plus whatever we have individually
Aleksei: I have 3 weeks of trail rations
DM: A day and a half, actually.
DM: At full speed.
Elias: 10 here too
Ilya: So that's not so bad.
Elias: for rations
Ilya: We can keep going
Ilya: and then head back
DM: ok.
Elias: so should we be rolling survivals or track skills to try and find these camps?
Taranis: Yeah, when we start getting low we'll worry about it
DM: (I'll let you know what to roll and when)
Elias: okie
DM: So, May 3rd, you explore D4. The only thing of note is a rickety bridge over the rushing river around the center of the hex.
DM: err, E5
Luxa: //I've got to bolt. See you folks next time!
Ilya: //ok bye!
Taranis: // Later
Elias: //see ya
Luxa: //hopefully by then I'll have the correct name
DM: May 4th, you explore F5. Here, the Thorn River merges with another one flowing in from the NE.
Taranis: I guess everyone deduct one personal rations
<<< Luxa has left >>> <<< 05:39:05 PM >>>
DM: Just east of where the rivers merge is a bridge over the (much larger) second river, or at least the remains of a bridge.
DM: All that is left is a single taught rope spanning it.
DM: A sign by the rope says "Nettle's Crossing" "5 coppers. Ring bell for service"
Ilya: Well that is unfortunate
Aleksei: Is there a bell?
DM: The remnants of a burnt out wooden building stand on the south shore, by the other end of the rope.
DM: There is indeed a bell.
Aleksei: I ring the bell
Ilya: :|
<<< Something has joined >>> <<< 05:42:26 PM >>>
DM: You do, do you?
DM: Well then.
Elias: something horrible this way comes
DM: Let's have some perception.
Aleksei: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Aleksei :
*** DM 1d20 < 9 = 9 > + 3 = 12
Taranis: /try 2
*** DM rolls attempts for Taranis :
*** DM 1d20 < 14 = 14 > + 2 = 16
Elias: /try 7
*** DM rolls attempts for Elias :
*** DM 1d20 < 1 = 1 > + 7 = 8
Ilya: /try -1
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM 1d20 < 16 = 16 > + 0 - 1 = 15
Bolgan: /try 8
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 3 = 3 > + 8 = 11
Taranis: // I prefer "something wicked"... but that's from Marathon EVIL
DM: Well… Ilya notes something odd in the water.
DM: A small … rock, is it? … moving against the current.
DM: The shape treads slowly up the river, and begins to emerge about 60 feet from the shore.
DM: A rotting, peutrescent head emerges from the river.
DM: Supported by a likewise decomposing body.
Ilya: D:
Bolgan: :/
*** Something looks at you with empty eye sockets.
Ilya: Oh god Aleksei what did you do???
Elias: Oh.....that isn't good
Something: You…
Something: You are not my tormentors.
Aleksei: What? It said to ring the bell!
Ilya: Don't do what random signs tell you!
Something: Throw the Stag Lord's body into the river, that I might glance upon his death….
Ilya: !
Taranis: Don't have that yet.
Aleksei: Yeah, well...
Something: Or join me instead.
Ilya: The... Stag Lord?
*** Aleksei turns away from Ilya and looks at the thing
Taranis: Can we take a rain check on it?
Ilya: We're on our way to defeat him.
Aleksei: Yeah hey if you help us cross we
Aleksei: will totally do that
*** Something stands, 60 ft from the shore, gripping an elegantly constructed ranseur.
Aleksei: On our way back.
Something: You… may cross.
Aleksei: Awesome.
Aleksei: Thanks!
*** Ilya skeptical
*** Aleksei turns to Ilya
Aleksei: See?
DM: Note that doing so here will be… difficult.
Ilya: Definitely not.
DM: There isn't so much of a bridge as a single hanging rope.
Elias: What did he do to you? How is the Stag lord still torturing you?
*** Something points to the burnt out husk of a house.
Taranis: // So we can look for a different way across or we can climb across this rope...
Ilya: //Do we need to cross here?
Taranis: // Is this rope set up so that we can use it as an aid to fording, or more like a tightrope to climb across?
Something: (there's the bridge you passed a few miles back)
Ilya: //right
Ilya: //so we don't need to cross here
DM: (The rope is a good 20ish feet over the river. It'll be climb checks to shimmy across)
Ilya: //or possibly at all since we haven't really found what we're looking for
Taranis: // And horses can't come with
Ilya: yeah, poor idea
Taranis: So we're not going to cross here
DM: // quite
Ilya: let's back away slowly from the Something
Ilya: it is scary.
*** Something glares at you.
Ilya: as long as that's all it does
Ilya: I don't care
DM: Also, let's have a quick craft, engineering check.
DM: err,
DM: knowledge(architecture)
Aleksei: Hey uh water dude I guess we won't be crossing here? But we're totally going to defeat this Stag Lord guys anyway.
*** Something nods.
Taranis: /try 7
*** DM rolls attempts for Taranis :
*** DM 1d20 < 3 = 3 > + 7 = 10
Aleksei: Bye for now!
DM: Well, that bridge a ways back waaaas fairly rickety.
Aleksei: /try 0
*** DM rolls attempts for Aleksei :
*** DM 1d20 < 20 = 20 > + 0 = 20
Ilya: rickety bridge > single rope
Aleksei: But I have no ranks
Ilya: but
Taranis: Well, do we need to cross yet?
Ilya: do we need to cross here at all
Ilya: I don't think so
Ilya: so let's just continue
DM: Let's see.
Taranis: I mean, are we stuck in a V?
Taranis: where we need to cross one of the bridges?
Taranis: Or are we fine on the side we're on
Ilya: i think we're fine.
DM: You're in a V. Correction, btw, the river that joins the Thorn flows east to west.
Ilya: oh
Ilya: then we go back up
Ilya: and take that bridghe
Ilya: and go wesy
Ilya: west
DM: That is to say, from F6 to F5
DM: ok.
DM: You go up and around to the rickety bridge.
DM: You are crossing it how?
DM: That is, with horses?
Ilya: we can lead our horses
DM: ok
Aleksei: Is it so rickety that it will fail to support horses?
Taranis: and one at a time, clearly
DM: The bridge groans and creaks ominously as soon as one of you steps on it.
DM: It groans and creaks even louder when a horse steps on it.
Taranis: Well...
Ilya: well is it falling apart?
Taranis: /try 7;Engineering
*** DM rolls attempts for Taranis :
*** DM (Engineering) 1d20 < 12 = 12 > + 7 = 19
DM: Keep going?: [y/n]
Taranis: Do I think it will hold?
Aleksei: This looks scary
Aleksei: Let's find a ford
Aleksei: Ooor
Aleksei: Build a raft
DM: Even odds… it's probably going to fall apart by the time all of you are done crossing.
DM: probably sooner.
Ilya: hm
Ilya: that's bad odds
Ilya: So I guess we double back harder
Ilya: to where the river was narrower
Ilya: and then cross
DM: Ok, the next ford back was at the bandit camp.
Ilya: really?
Ilya: ok.
DM: which is not too far from the border of the hex. so… let's say you only need to cross the hex you're in now.
DM: That's… 6 hours to double back.
Ilya: sure.
DM: So as you're coming back through E5, night falls.
Bolgan: fucking oregon trail
Ilya: Ok.
DM: Alrighty.
DM: You keep following the river for another day or so.
DM: the conjoined river eventually lets out into a lake at the Southern tip of G5
Ilya: oho
DM: There, on the western bank, atop a large mound is a pallisade.
Bolgan: dysentery?
Taranis: Ok that's... 2 more rations from each person, then?
Elias: snake bites?
Ilya: so
Ilya: this is our lake then
Aleksei: A palisade?
Aleksei: We attack it
Aleksei: Can we surprise it
DM: A gazebo emerges from the shadows and sneak attacks you.
Aleksei: Darn
Aleksei: They were in cahoots
DM: Alright. Now what?
Aleksei: Now it's 6 PM
Ilya: what's behind the palisade?
Aleksei: What's a palisade though, seriously
Ilya: a wall
DM: It's a wooden fortification, typically around some sort of keep or fort.
Aleksei: Ah
Aleksei: Well clearly we've found the forst
Aleksei: ... fort
Ilya: wasn't that supposed to be on the north side of the lake
Aleksei: It's on the lake, which we have also found
Ilya: is that where we are?
DM: You can see several towers.
Aleksei: Mmm
DM: DM: the conjoined river eventually lets out into a lake at the Southern tip of G5
DM: DM: There, on the western bank, atop a large mound is a pallisade.
Ilya: ok so this fits
Ilya: and we're on the western side of the river now
DM: You can see several wooden towers peeking out from behind the wooden wall.
Ilya: since we crossed
Ilya: so
Ilya: here we are.
Ilya: and we found 0 more bandits
Ilya: on our way
Taranis: So presumably we explore around, do some recon, before the next session
Ilya: sounds fine
Taranis: (more bandits would presumably be along different trails rather than on a relatively direct line from the camp to this fort)
Ilya: makes sense.
Ilya: they don't need more bandits in this line
DM: A narrow path of packed earth winds up to a gateway in the palisade's northern wall.
DM: Everywhere else around the fort is a hill devoid of anything save for isolated thorny vines here and there.
DM: It's mostly devoid of cover, although a few scattered boulders here and there might be large enough for a person to hide behind.
DM: Let's have a quick perception check from everyone before we break.
Elias: so not a good place to try and seige them
Elias: /try 7
*** DM rolls attempts for Elias :
*** DM 1d20 < 19 = 19 > + 7 = 26
Aleksei: /try 3
*** DM rolls attempts for Aleksei :
*** DM 1d20 < 7 = 7 > + 3 = 10
Bolgan: /try 8
*** DM rolls attempts for Bolgan :
*** DM 1d20 < 20 = 20 > + 8 = 28
DM: Good enough.
Ilya: /try -1
*** DM rolls attempts for Ilya :
*** DM 1d20 < 1 = 1 > + 0 - 1 = 0
Ilya: :D
DM: Elias and Bolgan both note that although there seem to be guards in the assorted towers inside the palisade, their attention is entirely on the pathway. They seem to be ignoring all other approaches.
Taranis: The approaches have been cleared to preclude surprise attacks... We won't have an easy way in
Elias: Seems they're not paying much attention to the back doors
Ilya: I think the bluff strategy is the way to go
DM: (of which there are none… but, metaphorically speaking, yes)
Ilya: ride up with the booze, say we're the bandits
Ilya: with the shipment
Ilya: and then when they open the doors
Ilya: either we get let in
Ilya: or we punch them in the face
Taranis: Possible; otherwise it would seem we would need to scale the wall if there are no other entries.
Ilya: is there any way we can see that they could accept some booze without opening the door?
Elias: aside from telling us to leave it at the door?
DM: Well, nothing specifically for that purpose, no.
Ilya: hm well
Ilya: maybe they'll dothat
Ilya: maybe they won't!
DM: You (Taranis especially) can come up with a handful of ways that would achieve that goal without leaving any signs.
Taranis: Which goal?
Taranis: Sneaking inside?
DM: Alright… Well, we'll see what happens. Next time… on Kingmaker!
Ilya: tada
